Hypothetical example
Put the decision in context.
A single broken form needs repair, while the wider site has no update owner. Scope the immediate fault separately from ongoing maintenance responsibility.
Take these points into your brief.
Use this checklist to record what is agreed and what still needs confirmation.
- Defect or recurring need
- Business impact and urgency
- Actual support hours and escalation
For each item, keep the requirement, the supporting file or observation, and the person responsible for confirming it together.
Choose the right approach: your next step
Write down the problem this purchase must solve and the conditions that would make an option unsuitable. Compare the alternatives against those same requirements. If an important specification or approval is unknown, mark it as pending and ask the responsible supplier to resolve it before choosing. A visual preference is useful, but it should sit alongside the practical requirements in your decision.
